Charcoal Soldering Block – 140 × 70 × 30mm – Jewellers’ Soldering Base

This Charcoal Soldering Block is a traditional jeweller’s soldering base, made from close-grain, knot-free natural willow, specially prepared and treated for optimum performance at the bench.

Charcoal absorbs very little heat and has a high level of reflectivity, helping to prevent heat dissipation so your work reaches soldering temperature faster and more efficiently. Pins can be easily pushed into the surface to support components during soldering, making it extremely versatile for jewellery work.

The block can be carved to create basic shapes or small depressions for melting metal, making it ideal for techniques such as granulation. Broken pieces can be reused, and worn blocks can be renewed by light sanding. For added durability and to help retain its shape, the sides can be wrapped tightly with binding wire.
